Early courses were very long - courses 3 months long were held in Wellington on Intensive Respiratory Care in November 1968 and November 1969.

Early courses were very long - courses 3 months long were held in Wellington on Intensive  Respiratory Care in November 1968 and November 1969.

A number of Respiratory Courses were run in the late 1970’s until 1982.  A three week course in 1979 on ITU at Waikato cost $30 -$40.

The Canterbury Hospital Board ran a three month Advanced Diploma in Cardiothoracic Physiotherapy in 1983 for $200.

1992 a two-day respiratory care workshop by Dr. Lind Holland (Canada)
1993 Christchurch pulmonary rehabilitation course
1994 group Conference,  speakers  Australians Dr.Sue Jenkins and Dr.Elizabeth Ellis
1994 two day hyperventilation workshop
1996 workshops in Auckland and Christchurch run by Dr. Elizabeth Dean (Canada), ‘Evidence Based Cardiothoracic Physical Therapy Practice: Preparing for the next Millennium’.
1998 a half day course led by Julia Bott (United Kingdom) on  ‘The Ventilatory Pump and Clinical Applications,  Exercise Concepts and Non-invasive Ventilation’,
1998 a two day course in October led by Doa El-Ansary from Canberra - ‘The Application of Thoracic Cage Mobility Issues to the Medical and Surgical Respiratory Patient’.
